The goal of the research project is to increase the degree of automation for the production of casing elements in aircraft cabins. This is achieved by integrating the power and data supply system on the casing elements. Apart from the connection of electronic components like lamps or display to the integrated power and data supply system also the creation of integrated circuits directly onto the casing elements is pursued.
The technology used in the research project is the Aerosol-Jet® Printing System. This direct write method is suitable for the fast and flexible production of conductive tracks. Aside from printing with conductive inks also the printing of polymer optical waveguides will be analyzed.
A new challenge arises from the featured substrat of the casing elements. These elements are made out of sandwich material and their surface quality will drastically effect the results of the research project.
