FAPS ProNet e. V.
Professional Network
The FAPS Professional Network e.V. (FAPS ProNet e.V.) was founded on October 7, 2016 as a non-profit association. It is an association of active and former employees and sponsors of the Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS) at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). The focus is on networking, cooperation and exchange for technical, professional and above all friendly benefit. This framework offers attractive opportunities and stimulating fields of activity for the members.
The purpose and task of the FAPS ProNet e.V. is to promote:
- scientific research in the field of factory automation and production systems,
- the discussion of the results e.g. at lectures and seminars,
- the scientific exchange of ideas on research in the field of technical sciences, in particular production sciences, as well as contacts with persons, enterprises, companies, associations, authorities, university institutes and offices of all kinds, and
- dissemination through publications and presentations of research results.

Round Table
The Round Table Industry 4.0 offers the members of ProNet e.V. an excellent opportunity for networking. Four times a year interested members meet for lectures with following networking. A factory tour at changing companies also offers the opportunity to get to know different industries, gather exciting impressions and new ideas and solutions for the transformation to Industry 4.0.
Further round tables are planned for the future.
Mentoring Program
The association has set itself the goal of better networking among the alumni and with current research assistants. One component of this is our mentoring program. The mentoring program also provides targeted advice for the establishment of companies and a desired university career as a professor. There are currently six mentor/mentee pairs active and we would like to increase this number significantly in the future. Interested mentors as well as mentees should contact ProNet e.V. by e-mail, who will take over the further placement.
FAAN Award Ceremonies
Every year the Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems invites its former and current employees as well as cooperation partners from research and industry to the annual FAPS Annual Academic Award Night (FAAN). Prof. Jörg Franke gives a review of the past FAPS year. The agenda also includes exciting lectures by the international doctoral students of the FAPS chair and a poster session on selected cooperation projects.
The highlight of the event is the awarding of prizes for outstanding achievements in the current research of the chair by FAPS Professional Networking e.V. Prizes in the categories “Publication”, “Final Thesis” and “Doctorate” will be awarded, each of which is endowed with 500€. The application is made via a one-page abstract on the respective research topic. The abstract should show the relevance of the topic, the methodological approach and the concrete results of the publication, final paper or doctorate. From the submissions, a jury consisting of the board members of FAPS Professional Networking e.V. will select the prize winners. The award winners will be announced and honoured during the FAAN event.
