Rasool Shahsevani started his research activities in the field of robotics and mechatronics in 2015 at Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS), the chair of Prof. Dr. Franke. He is working on his PhD dissertation with the subject of “Universal Robotic Gripper with Multi Extensible Components System for Human-robot Cooperation”. Some of his outstanding scientific achievements including two new inventions which are submitted to Germans Patent office. These are so called “Universal Extensible Gripper” and “Multi-Extensible Components System”. These grippers make a significant contribution that enables robots to pick up sensitive and different objects, efficiently in various industrial environments.  The relevant results are published in credential scientific publishers.

Mr. Shahsevani is the board member of directors for Innovation and Technology Club of “UNESCO”. The “Top Young Scientist” award given to him in his home country because of several patents and highlighted academic achievements. Furthermore, he is honored with the gold medal in International Trade Fair for Ideas, Inventions, and New Products (iENA), and the gold Medal for International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies (ARCHIMEDES). He is also contributed as the technical committee member of IEEE International Conference in Control, Mechatronics and Automation (ICCMA, 2019), and International Conference in Mechanical Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing (ICMEIM, 2021). Also, he contributed as reviewer in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (IEEE RA-L) journals.

Mr. Shahsevani is honored with two DAAD scholarships. The first one helped him completing the final phase of his PhD dissertation in robotics and mechatronics system under supervision of Prof. Franke. The second scholarship is awarded by DAAD and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science  (JSPS) to support his research fellowship in robotics with focus on artificial intelligence at Tohoku university (Computer vision laboratory) and Tokyo university (Research into Artifacts Center for Engineering (RACE) and Mobile robotics laboratory).

It is not only his academic achievements that impress FAU jury committee but also he is an active person who has demonstrated a commitment to intercultural and social initiatives in the metropolitan region. These are including the voluntary member at EFIE e.V. (Ehrenamtliche Flüchtlingsbetreuung), and the member of “Ausländer- und Integrationsbeirat (AIB) in Erlangen.

Because of all above achievements, innovative, academic skills and intercultural-social endeavors, and the willingness to help others, Mr. Rasool Shahsevani is awarded the “Hans-Wilhelm and Helga Schüßler-Preis at the DAAD award 2022” by Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger the president of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
