01.07.2022: New research project “Deep Learning based crimp force curve analysis for holistic, intelligent process monitoring” (DeepCrimpact) starts

Current trends and challenges in wire and terminal processing require the development of flexible and intelligent systems for process monitoring during the production of crimp connections. Within the framework of the research project “Deep Learning based crimp force curve analysis for holistic, intelligent process monitoring” (DeepCrimpact), which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, a method for holistic, intelligent analysis of process curves is being developed. Project partners in the project are the companies Schäfer Werkzeug- und Sondermaschinenbau GmbHGKT Grüner Kabeltechnik and DD Kabelkonfektion Dropulic GmbH.

The objective of the DeepCrimpact project is the development, implementation and validation of a Deep Learning-based curve monitoring system that allows a targeted, holistic and traceable process evaluation based on process curves. The evaluation of crimp force curves during ongoing operation enables the detection of relevant defects and process states. Intelligent process curve monitoring thus supports accurate quality assessment from the first crimp connection produced and resource-efficient production release.
