01.09.2021: Certificate of competence “Safety in electrical installations” – Employee qualification at the FAPS

(c) Markus Spiske

In the context of the energy transition, the energy supply structure and the associated protection concept for automated production plants play a significant role. In addition to conventional supply, future-oriented research approaches include the integration of generators and storage systems. In recent years, the standard-compliant planning and commissioning of such plants in particular has emerged as a core topic with the highest relevance for economic exploitation and feasibility.

For the exploitation of research results, the FAPS sees not only industrial developers but also cooperation with planning offices and network operators as well as with the electrical trade as very profitable. In this context, our scientific employee, the electrical engineer, electronics technician and electrical planner Benjamin Gutwald, was trained in the “Technical Rules of Electrical Installation – Connection of Electrical Installations and Devices to the Low-Voltage Network”. The so-called TREI license covers the most important knowledge of the master electrician training and is, according to § 13 of the Low Voltage Connection Ordinance (NAV), an essential part of the authorization to be included in the federal installer directory of the network operators and thus be able to perform authorized electrical work.

This type of training serves the purpose of familiarizing not only our well-trained technical personnel, but also scientific personnel, with prototype and system commissioning in accordance with standards, as well as being able to test scientific methods for practical feasibility. In the future, Mr. Gutwald will contribute his knowledge to the construction, commissioning and approval of electrical systems at the FAPS.
