With around 350 participants from industry, science and politics, the first Automotive Future Workshop took place in Nuremberg on March 29, 2023. The objective of the networking event was an initial exchange between companies, other interested parties and the project team of the Transform_EMN project in order to jointly discuss needs, potentials and strategies for a future-oriented and competitive automotive supply industry in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
The keynote speeches by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tim Hosenfeldt (Head of Central Technology at Schaeffler AG) and Thomas Regnet (Managing Director of Scherdel Innotec Forschungs- und Entwicklungs-GmbH) provided the participants with exemplary insights for strategies and technologies of the changing automotive supply chain.
Afterwards, the project partners offered the opportunity to go into the following topics in detail in interactive sessions: Transformation Strategy (Nuremberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce), Working Environment (IMU Institute), Opportunities in Medical Technology (Medical Valley EMN e.V.), Vehicle Electrification (Fraunhofer Institute IISB), and Digital and Sustainable Production (FAPS).
In the session moderated by FAPS, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Franke motivated the participants with a keynote speech on the urgent need for competitive digital and sustainable production. Afterwards, selected projects as well as the FAPS spin-off Seamless Energy Technologies were presented in a rotating format in small groups in the style of elevator pitches and joint cooperation opportunities were discussed.
With the positive feedback of the participants, we are pleased to draw your attention already to the second Future Workshop on April 10, 2024 in Amberg.
In the transform_EMN project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, we are supporting small and medium-sized automotive suppliers from the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg in particular in mastering the challenges of the mobility transition to alternative drives and digitalization.
